Push the START button on your controller, and select SUSPEND CYCLE to begin. You can now hold the PS button and close the game safely: your current playthrough has been saved!
Using the Suspend Cycle feature has some restrictions. You cannot save while in the air (for example jumping or falling), nor while in active combat, taking damage or dying, and you cannot save while in first person mode.
